Join us on May 23rd as we welcome Virginian winemaking pioneer, Ben Jordan, for a four-course meal paired with Ben's wines from around the Shenandoah Valley! Ben fell in love with wine through the influence of a few good mentors while working retail wine sales in New York. After an extensive career including experiences in the lab and cellar in the Russian River Valley and Dry Creek Valley in California, Ben returned to Virginia in 2012 to become the winemaker at Michael Shaps Wineworks. Now making wine for three labels - Common Wealth Crush, Lightwell Survey, and Midland Construction - Ben has become a well-known name amongst grape growers and winemakers as an innovator and consultant for making world-class Virginia wines. We are incredibly excited to have Ben join us with wines from each of his labels to show us what his years of research and experience has found. These wines beside the culinary craft of Chef Tony Chittum, featuring seasonal ingredients sourced from Mid-Atlantic purveyors, will be a meal that cannot be missed! Join us on May 9th for a night of fine Grecian wines as we host Emmanuela Paterianakis from Domaine Paterianakis! Emmanuela is the third generation in her family to make wines from her family vineyards in Crete, Greece. Located in a semi-mountainous area of an approximate altitude 600m, Domaine Paterianakis has developed a modern winery to produce terroir-driven wines witih sustainable, organic techniques. These bright, clean wines have been favorites at Iron Gate for a long time, often being featured at special events held in our space, and truly speak to the unique flavors of the Greek Islands. We are excited to have Emmanuela join us for a four-course meal paired with her traditional, authentically Greek wines.
