ABOUT YIANNIS TSELEPOS In 1981, after studying Enology at the prestigious University of Dijon in Burgundy, Yiannis decided it was time to take what he had learned closer to home and moved to Greece. He spent the next eight years working with wineries, gathering knowledge about the varieties and wines of Greece, and in 1989 he bought his first vineyard: 1.5 hectares (3.7 acres) of Moscofilero in Arcadia, Mantinia.
Today, Yiannis produces wine at three estates in Greece - Tselepos Winery, his original plantings in Mantiniea, Driopi Wines, showcasing the region just over the surrounding mountains in Nemea, and Canava Chrissous, on the island of Santorini. He believes in a balanced, sustainable approach to grape growing and combines a traditional respect for the grapes and wines with a technical training from French University.
