BRINGING THAT SWEET SUMMER HEAT…WITH PARLOR COFFEE!
New Seasonal Coffees at Cameo!

Cameo Coffee + Tea at The Roost | 1401 Pennsylvania Ave SE
Launching Friday, July 18th

...
As things heat up in the district, we're cooling down with some summertime seasonal coffees from our good friends at Parlor Coffee in Brooklyn, NY

We've been partnered with them since day 1 at Cameo. Looking forward to our 5th anniversary in September, we couldn't be more stoked to have such community minded, thoughtful, and caring partners. They exemplify a transparent supply chain, while continuing to support long time producers throughout the years.

Here's to Parlor, We love ya!

Here's the featured coffee on our single pour bar and in retail boxes:

KENYA GATURA (PARLOR / BROOKLYN, NY) $8 / $29 WHOLE BEAN (SPICED PLUM, RED CURRANT, YUZU)
This small lot from the Gatura Factory marks the beginning of a new collaboration between Parlor and exporter Peter Mbature of Kamavindi Coffee Lab. Working closely with the Rumukia Cooperative, Peter initiated a project to reintroduce traditional Kenyan processing—most notably, full variety separation and double fermentation—to highlight the clarity and nuance of SL28 and SL34."

ETHIOPIA AYLA (PARLOR / BROOKLYN, NY) $7 / $21 WHOLE BEAN (STRAWBERRY, WHITE TEA, LAVENDER)
"Located in the Bensa woreda of Sidamo, the Ayla washing station is supplied by more than seven hundred smallholders from the Shentawane community. Cherries undergo a carefully managed one hundred-hour fermentation process, followed by slow drying on raised beds to enhance quality. We taste strawberry, black cherry, lavender florals, and delicate white tea in our roast of this vibrant lot."

ETHIOPIA KOLLA BOLCHA (PARLOR / BROOKLYN, NY) $7 / $23
(YELLOW PEACH, BLACK TEA, HONEYSUCKLE)
"The Kolla Bolcha washing station is operated by the Kata Muduga cooperative, which, unlike most unions in Ethiopia, works on commission. Ninety percent of the purchase price is returned directly to the cooperative—and, by extension, to the community. Under their leadership, quality at Kolla Bolcha has exceeded even the most renowned washing stations in Agaro in recent seasons."

Exclusive retail boxes:

HONDURAS EL GUACO  (PARLOR / BROOKLYN, NY)  $23
(HUCKLEBERRY, PEACH, NUTMEG, MANGO)
A maracaturra varietal, from Cup of Excellence winner, Arturo Paz.

KENYA NGATHU  (PARLOR / BROOKLYN, NY) $26
(MUSCAT GRAPE, BLACKBERRY, TAMARIND)
"We've proudly partnered with Edwin and Mary Kamau since 2019, sourcing standout coffees from each of their three farms. Ngethu—first visited by our team in 2022—is a six-acre plot in Kiambu County, this lot was selectively handpicked at peak ripeness from trees growing at 1800 meters and washed at the family's Kimata station, where their meticulous processing brings out the vibrant, fruit-driven character we seek from Kenya's best coffees"

Forever faves on the bar and in retail boxes:

ETHIOPIA YIRGACHEFFE CHELBASSA $4 COLD BREW / $18 WHOLE BEAN
(HONEY, BERGAMONT, RASPBERRY)

COLOMBIA LA QUEBRADA $3.75 DRIP / $18 WHOLE BEAN
(PINEAPPLE, HONEY, POMELO)

WALLABOUT BLEND $3.75 ESPRESSO / $17 WHOLE BEAN
(CHOCOLATE, TOFFEE, BROWN SUGAR)

SMOKEBEER PRESERVATION DAY 2025!
The Roost/ Shelter
Wednesday, July 23rd
11:00 AM
...

Join Shelter on Wednesday, July 23rd, as we celebrate Smokebeer Preservation Day 2025! This yearly tradition is a public holiday in Bamberg–the epicenter of Germany's smoked beer culture! It marks the day in 1635 in which the first smoke-free malt-drying machine was patented.

That turning point in beer history sparked the rise in popularity of smoke-free beers, with a few exceptions such as those produced at Schlenkerla. By toasting to their assortment of rauchbiers, we aim to help preserve the style, even as technology and tastes have changed since that date almost 400 years ago.

Don't miss your chance to try this special lineup of 6 drafts–including traditional German rauchbiers and their modern counterparts from other parts of the world.

There is no admission fee for this event. All featured beers will be available a la carte.

THE FEATURED BEER LIST
- Knoblach Rauchsudla (Rauchbier)
- Nøgne Ø Bonfire (Rauchbier Doppelbock)
- Schilling Zunden (Smoked Schwarzbier)
- Schlenkerla Fastenbier (Unfiltered Rauchbier)
- Schlenkerla Helles Märzen (Blend of Smoked Märzen & Helles Lager)
- Spezial Rauchbier Märzen (Rauchbier Märzen)
