Rosemont of Virginia Wine Dinner with Justin & Aubrey Rose! October 17th | 6:00 - 8:00pm ... We are incredibly excited and honored to have Justin & Aubrey Rose from Rosemont Vineyards join us at Vermilion this month! The pair will present their wines and give insight into their winery and Virginian winemaking against a backdrop of delicious Mid-Atlantic flavors courtesy of Chef Anthony Chittum.
In 2003 the Rose Family planted over 32,000 grapevines across 22 acres on the land their family has farmed since 1858 in Southcentral Virginia. Since then they have expanded their vineyard to just over 26 acres, growing 14 different varietals including Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Merlot, Chardonel, and Chambourcin.
The Rosemont team combine their knowledge of the land with modern winemaking techniques to produce premium handcrafted wines, all of which are 100% estate-grown, produced, and bottled on their estate. Being involved in every aspect of winemaking, from bud break to harvest to bottling, allows them to produce wines of the greatest quality that showcase this great Virginia terroir.
Their first Rosemont vintage in 2007 made for perfect wine given the ideal hot and dry growing conditions that mimicked Napa. Today Justin is responsible for Rosemont's nearly 7,000 annual case production, and his wine has received accolades from Best in Show at the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition with his 2007 Meritage to the Virginia Governor's Cup Gold Medal for the 2017 Cabernet Franc. In 2020, his peers voted him Virginia Wine Person of the Year, and he is a former president of the Virginia Wineries Association.
