ChurchKey | 1337 14th St NW

...

ChurchKey is excited to host our dear friend Sebastian Sauer, founder of Freigeist Bierkultur, for a day of traditional German Kölsch service! We'll be offering Freigeist's Ottekolong Kölsch the old fashioned way: through round after round of 20 cl (6.8 oz.) glasses until you tell us to stop!

For just $39, we'll serve unlimited pours of Kölsch from 12:00 - 3:00pm. We'll circulate through the crowd with freshly poured glasses, or stangen, of Ottekolong on a special tray, known as a kranz. When you empty your stange, we'll drop one after the other, until you decide you've had your fill!

To make Kölsch Fest even more unforgettable, Sebastian Sauer will be in-house guiding all of us through this special service. We'll even have additional Freigeist beers available a la carte. Don't miss the opportunity to experience one of the finest beer drinking traditions around!

Join ChurchKey on Monday, February 24th, as we welcome representatives from the local grain and malt community, alongside two breweries that emphasize local sourcing, for a panel discussion and feature.

We are honored to welcome John Branding (Wheatland Spring Farm + Brewery), Josh Chapman (Upweller Beer Company), Jeffrey Bloem (Murphy & Rude Malting Company), and Kalina Newman (Common Grain Alliance) to the ChurchKey parlour for this event. The featured panelists will have an informal conversation highlighting the regional grain movement and the creative collaborations to which they are a part.

We'll even feature a total of 6 beers from Wheatland Spring and Upweller, including the launch of Common Grain, a 5.0% ABV amber lager from Wheatland Spring made with Murphy & Rude and Deer Creek malt, which was brewed for the upcoming Mid-Atlantic Grain Fair.

There is no admission fee for this event, but reserved seats can be purchased on Eventbrite. For $10, you will be guaranteed a seat, plus receive a ticket for a full pour of any featured beer. Remaining seats and standing room in the ChurchKey front parlour will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
